Sometimes it can be difficult to tell if a horse is frame overo or not by just looking at it, the horse could have more than one pinto gene or could be solid and not show any typical markers. The only way to determine whether or not the horse is carrying the frame overo gene, is to have it genetically tested. You will have to pull about 40-50 mane hairs (making sure to get the root ball at the end of the hair) then put the hair samples in an envelope, along with the filled out test form and $25.00 per test and mail them to Pet DNA Services of AZ.
