A long time ago and in the early history of man, there were the Gods of Mount Olympus, the Roman Gods, the Greek gods and the Overo Gods.

Everyone knows the story of the Gods on Mount Olympus, Hera, Hercules, Zeus and all of the rest. Well until now, no one has ever heard of the Overo Gods. The Overo Gods were summoned into existence in the form of horses so that they would be ridden into battle by the gods. The gods of Mount Olympus decided that there should be three different overo gods to protect them in different situations. A splashed white overo god, a sabino overo god, and the greatest of the overo gods, the frame overo god.

The gods on Mount Olympus took the tall trees of the Sequoia forest for their paintbrushes, and painted these fine horses in all different colors. They painted the sabino with a wide white blaze on the face, blue eyes and four white socks to show off the legs. They painted the splashed white with white on all its legs and underneath the belly, but the frame overos were different. They painted a colored path down their spine, they painted a colored shield on the horses chest, colored shields on their flanks. They painted their legs dark to hide them, and painted a colored shield on their rear to protect the gods as they rode away. The rest of the horse was left white to distinguish this horse from all the rest. The shields that the gods painted on these horses, was to protect them from harm when they went into battle against their foes. The shields also extended to the gods riding these great horses, so that no harm would come to the riders.

Two great horses rose from this early time, one a black frame overo, and one a sorrel frame overo. They fought from time to time trying to receive the most favorable position from the other gods, but each time they dueled, it was a standoff as they were equally matched.

During all this time that mortal horses have existed, the frame overo gods have given their blessings to special breeders of frame overo horses. Frame overo horses have always stood out in a crowd. They are the most magnificent of all the overos, and the most elusive. The Frame Overo gods will only grant to the most devoted breeders of frame horses the gift of an extremely loud frame overo.

Sometimes if you are close to the ocean and you are extremely lucky, you will see the Frame Overo Gods materialize out of the ocean spray against the rocks, battling again with no winner. But only if you are extremely lucky will you see them.
